Big Law Application Question

Question About Big Law Applications

Hi everyone, I have a quick question. I’m currently working towards my JD at School A, but I have been accepted and will definitely be transferring to School B. As I’m applying for 2L positions right now, I’m unsure how to fill out the applications.

When it asks for my school name, should I list School A or School B?

Just to clarify, my transfer to School B is confirmed, and I will be attending there for sure. Thanks for your help!

  1. When filling out your applications, you should list School A as your current law school, and indicate that you are transferring to School B. Many applications have a section for additional comments or notes, where you can briefly explain your transfer status. This will help clarify your situation for potential employers. Being transparent about your current school and your upcoming transfer is important, as it reflects your academic journey accurately. Good luck with your applications!

  2. Hi there! Congratulations on your transfer to School B—what an exciting opportunity! When it comes to filling out your applications, it’s generally advisable to list School A, as it reflects your current status and where you are when applying. However, to avoid confusion, I recommend including a brief note or addendum explaining your upcoming transfer to School B. This will not only provide clarity to potential employers but also show that you are proactive in your communication.

Furthermore, since you are transferring, make sure to highlight any relevant experiences from both institutions in your resume and cover letter. This could showcase your adaptability and commitment, both of which are valuable traits in Big Law. Best of luck with your applications; I’m sure you’ll make a strong impression!
