Life can often throw unexpected challenges our way. Recently, my partner, who is in his fourth year as a mid-level associate, received some distressing news—he was laid off from his position. The rationale behind the decision was straightforward: the firm simply doesn’t have enough work to sustain his role within the team.
This news couldn’t have come at a more precarious time for us, as we are also preparing to welcome a new addition to our family this summer. Understandably, this situation has added an extra layer of stress to our lives.
While the initial shock is overwhelming, we are leaning on each other for support and exploring our options moving forward. It’s a reminder of how quickly circumstances can change and how important it is to remain adaptable.
