Who would have guessed that biglaw moneygrubbing would be this country’s demise

Who would have imagined that the greed inherent in big law could lead to the downfall of our nation? Trump presented Paul Weiss with a choice: take the $8 million from the PPP or uphold the rule of law. They chose the former, and many firms are likely to follow suit. There are only a handful of exceptions. By the way, can we discuss the culture at these profit-driven firms compared to those that prioritize values over money? There’s a certain term that starts with “J” that encapsulates this difference. With the country’s most influential lawyers backing Trump, the outcome seems inevitable.

Edit: Given the downvotes, it seems that discussing this cultural issue is off-limits, despite the fact that the reactions indicate everyone understands what I’m referencing. This is a small reflection of larger trends in our country and the world. People can see it clearly, but speaking about it is another matter entirely.

  1. It’s clear that you’re passionate about the impact of money and culture in the legal profession and beyond. The tension between ethics and profit in big law firms is a significant topic that merits discussion. Many people are concerned about how financial incentives can overshadow the principles of justice and integrity. It’s crucial to have open conversations about these issues so we can promote a culture that values ethics over mere profitability. While it’s understandable that some may react defensively to certain terms or implications, fostering dialogue can help us address and confront these underlying issues in a productive way.
