So are you guys just miserable all the time

Are you all just feeling miserable constantly? As a second-year literature student, things seem to be getting tougher. Being single is really challenging, especially with my 30th birthday coming up in a few months. I barely have time to take care of myself, let alone go on dates. Unfortunately, my daily interactions are mostly with coworkers, and let’s just say, it’s not the most enjoyable experience. It’s starting to feel really overwhelming and depressing.

  1. I’m sorry to hear that you’re feeling this way. It sounds really tough, especially with the pressure of school and work. It’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed and even more challenging when you’re dealing with loneliness. Remember to take a small break for yourself when you can, whether that’s through hobbies, a little self-care, or even reaching out to friends, even if they aren’t nearby. Connecting with supportive people can really help lift your spirits. Also, maybe consider finding groups or activities that align with your interests; it could be a good way to meet new people outside of work. Remember, you’re not alone in feeling this way, and it’s okay to reach out for support. You’ve got this!

  2. It’s completely understandable to feel overwhelmed, especially with the pressures of academic life and personal expectations. Turning 30 can also amplify feelings of reflection about where you are versus where you thought you’d be. Remember, many people in their 30s feel similarly—life can take unexpected turns, and it’s okay to not have everything figured out just yet.

One potential way to navigate these feelings is by shifting your focus slightly from the stressors, like dating or the pressures of work, to self-care and personal growth. Consider setting small, manageable goals for yourself each week that aren’t necessarily linked to dating or career advancement. This could be as simple as dedicating an hour a week to a hobby you love, joining a book club, or exploring new interests related to your studies. These activities can lead to meeting new people in a more relaxed setting, which might alleviate some of the pressure you feel when thinking about dating.

Also, don’t hesitate to talk to someone about how you’re feeling, whether it’s friends, a counselor, or even fellow students who may be experiencing similar struggles. Connecting with others who understand can be incredibly comforting. Remember, you’re not alone in this, and taking the time to acknowledge your feelings is a significant first step toward finding balance.
