Lateraling from big to mid law?

Considering a lateral move from a large firm to a mid-sized one? I’m curious about how feasible it is to transition from a V50 firm in DC or NY to a mid-law firm in a smaller market like Memphis, Nashville, Birmingham, or New Orleans. I’m planning to spend two years in a major market before relocating back to the South. Any insights?
