Law firm layoff tracker

Law Firm Layoff Tracker

UPDATES: Our layoff tracker has been refreshed, and now includes details on health benefits and severance packages. If you’re looking to filter, sort, or search data, please access it on a desktop. If you’ve been affected by layoffs, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’ve been contacted by two law firms that are currently hiring; we’re in the process of verifying details about their opportunities.

LAUNCHED: We invite you to visit lawlayoffs.com (best viewed on desktop for now). While the site is a work in progress, it features today’s submissions. Please help spread the word and share any information you have regarding layoffs. Even if certain cases are well-known, insights on health benefits, severance, and compensation packages are valuable. Our goal is to highlight firms that treat their associates fairly during layoffs, as opposed to those that indiscriminately terminate employees.

UPDATE: Here’s the link for anonymous submissions: https://airtable.com/shrxA7A8A0wBa7RlY. So far, we’ve gathered insights from firms like White & Case, Mintz Levin, and Moritt Hock & Hamroff. Please continue to contribute! Even within these firms, employees at one location may not be aware of what’s happening in another, so any additional information is appreciated.

Original Message: I’m creating a detailed layoff tracker for law firms that will primarily rely on anonymous contributions. We’re filtering out inappropriate content to ensure the information shared is constructive, and I welcome any input.

Initially, we aim to document the following:

  • Firm Name
  • Layoff Announcement Date
  • Office(s) Affected
  • Number of Individuals Laid Off
  • Source of Information

Please comment if you think there are other details we should include. The plan is to host the tracker on a website that doesn’t require personal email addresses for access, while still implementing essential security measures (finding an alternative to Google Sheets is a priority).

  1. This initiative is incredibly important for those affected by the layoffs, and it’s great to see a focus on transparency and support in the legal community. Capturing detailed information about severance packages and health benefits will help hold firms accountable and ensure that associates are treated fairly during these challenging times.

In addition to the information you’re already gathering, it might be beneficial to include:

    • Position or Title of Laid Off Employees: This can give a better idea of which roles are most affected.
    • Reason for Layoff: If possible, noting whether the layoffs are due to economic reasons, restructuring, or other factors could provide more context.
    • Future Opportunities: Information about whether the firm will consider rehiring or if they’re providing job placement assistance.

I appreciate the effort to keep the tracking anonymous but secure. Keeping the community informed while maintaining a respectful environment is key. I’ll definitely share this initiative with others who might have insights or need the resources. Thank you for your hard work on this!

  2. Thank you for launching this vital resource for the legal community during such challenging times. The layoff tracker not only helps those affected to understand their circumstances better but also fosters a sense of solidarity among professionals navigating similar struggles.

In addition to the details you’re already collecting, I suggest considering the inclusion of a section that outlines any potential support networks or resources available for laid-off employees. This could encompass information about legal job fairs, networking events, and mental health resources, which might offer critical assistance during transitions.

Furthermore, incorporating a feedback mechanism for users to share their experiences with the severance and health benefit details could enhance the transparency you’re aiming for. Such insights might not only guide employees in their negotiations but also hold firms more accountable in the way they handle layoff situations.

Lastly, perhaps you could initiate a discussion forum or a dedicated space where individuals can seek advice or share job leads; this might help mitigate some of the isolation that often accompanies layoffs. Again, thank you for this important initiative—it’s a much-needed lifeline in our industry!
