How should I address attorneys in a callback interview?
Is it acceptable to use first names when greeting attorneys for the first time in an in-person callback, especially those I’ve previously networked with? It feels much more comfortable to say their first names instead of “Hi Attorney X.”

While you may have networked with some of them before, using their titles (like “Mr.” or “Ms.” followed by their last name) conveys a level of professionalism and respect. After your initial greeting, you can gauge their reaction—if they introduce themselves using their first name or invite you to do the same, it’s a good sign that using first names is acceptable. Until then, starting with a formal approach is the safest route.
