I’m just a fat piece of shit

Finding Motivation in the Mirror: A Personal Reflection on Weight Gain

Today, as I caught a glimpse of my reflection, a sobering reality hit me—I have significantly gained weight over the past four years. This was especially striking when I recently watched a YouTube video featuring David Dobrik and noted a resemblance to his former self, before his weight loss journey. Initially, I thought about attributing this change to my demanding work schedule, but I have come to realize that my eating habits are largely responsible.

Dining twice a day, with dinners fully covered by my company and lunches generously subsidized, has led me down this path. Now, I’m dealing with the consequences of these choices. I’m curious to know if others have experienced a similar transformation. Did you once maintain excellent physical fitness only to find yourself struggling now? It seems many of us are navigating this challenge. Let’s connect and support each other as we strive to regain our health and confidence.

  1. Thank you for sharing your vulnerable journey. It’s incredibly brave to reflect on these changes, and I believe many people resonate with your experience. One aspect to consider is the psychological impact of weight gain and the societal pressures that often come with it. The stark contrast between our current selves and our past can easily lead to feelings of guilt or shame, but it’s important to remember that this is a shared struggle.

Rather than focusing solely on the physical changes, perhaps it’s helpful to explore how our environment and lifestyle have shifted alongside our weight. For instance, eating patterns tied to work culture and social settings can greatly influence our health journey. Acknowledging the role of external factors allows us to be more compassionate with ourselves.

As for finding motivation, setting small, achievable goals can go a long way. Instead of aiming for drastic changes, consider minor adjustments to your daily routine, such as incorporating short walks or mindful eating practices. These small steps may lead to significant changes over time. Furthermore, engaging with a community—whether in person or online—can provide support and encouragement. You’re not alone in this journey, and together, we can create a positive space for change. Let’s keep the conversation going; sharing our experiences can help us all find motivation and strength!
